4.7 – Replacing an ODU
To replace an ODU it is necessary to apply the following procedure :
1- Switch off the cable interface module which is connected to the ODU to be replaced.
2- Disconnect the IDU cable from the ODU
3- Note ODU polarization and remove ODU from its support (antenna, coupler or remote mount)
4- Install a new ODU according to installation procedure (Chapter 1 section 1.5), in the same
polarization.
5- Connect ODU cable and protect connectors with isolation tape
6- Switch on the cable interface module
Warning : Before disconnecting the cable, be sure that Cable Interface module is switched off
Note : for a 1+1 system, an ODU replacement can be done while the other operating. Prior to remove an
ODU, use the manual switch control (see chapter 3 section 3.3.7.2) and select the transmitter and
receiver of the ODU still in traffic.
Once the change has been done, replace switch control in automatic position.
4.8 – Replacing a Cable Interface module
To replace a cable interface module it is necessary to apply the following procedure :
1- switch off the cable interface module
2- Disconnect ODU cable (at IDU access)
3- Remove the two screws
4- Remove the cable interface module and replace it by a new one.
5- Attach the module with the screws and connect the ODU cable
6- Switch on the cable interface module
Warning : Before disconnecting the cable, be sure that Cable Interface module is switched off
Note : for a 1+1 system, a cable interface replacement can be done while the other operating. Prior to
remove a cable interface module, use the manual switch control (see chapter 3 section 3.3.7.2) and
select the transmitter and receiver of the channel still in traffic.
Once the change has been done, replace switch control in automatic position.
4.9 – Replacing an IDU
To replace an IDU, it is necessary to apply the following procedure :
1- Be sure to have a configuration file which will make re installation easier. If it is possible, go to the
menu Configuration / Save as/ Local (refer to chapter 3 section 3.3.1.2.)
2- Switch off the cable interface module(s)
3- Remove all cables from the IDU
4- Remove IDU.
5- Remove Cable Interface module(s) from IDU and replace them into the new IDU.
6- Replace the new IDU, and connect all cables like there were before the replacement.
7- Switch on the IDU and load the configuration information which was previously saved. If this file is
not available, it will be necessary to proceed to a new installation (refer to chapter 3 Section 3.2)
