3. Starter Motor
(2) Pinion movement
After complete assembly of the starter motor, connect up
the motor as in Fig.
i Switch
(3) Plunger movement
Adjustment made by adjusting stroke of magnetic plunger
to the prescribed value.
1) Shim adjusting.
Adjust the t -dimension dust cover at the magnetic
switch attach section.
(4) Thrust gap of armature
No adjustment type.

9 Testing
9.1 No load test
Test procedure
(1) Connect the positive side of the ammeter (A) to
positive terminal of the battery, and connect
negative side of the ammeter to the B terminal of
starter.
Tachometer
(2) Connect the negative terminal of the battery to 1
body of the starter.
(3) Connect the positive side of the voltmeter (V) to th«
terminal of the starter, and connect the negative si
of the voltmeter to the body of the starter.
(4) Attach the tachometer.
(5) Connect the B terminal of the starter to the S termii
of the magnetic switch.
• The magnetic switch should begin operation, and I
speed, current, and voltage should be at the prescrit
values.
• A fully charged battery must be used.
• Since a large current flows when the starter is operati
close the protection circuit
operation, then open the switch and measure I
current after the starter reaches a constant speed.
