Section 3 • Scheduled Maintenance Procedures
CHECKLIST E PROCEDURES
7 Remove the retaining fasteners from the
hydraulic tank hold down straps. Remove the
hold down straps from the hydraulic tank.
8 Support the hydraulic tank with 2 lifting straps.
Place one lifting strap at each end of the tank
and attach the lifting straps to an appropriate
lifting device.
9 Remove the hydraulic tank from the machine.
Crushing hazard. The hydraulic
tank may become unbalanced and
fall if it is not properly supported
and secured to the lifting device.
10 Remove the suction strainers from the tank and
clean them using a mild solvent.
11 Rinse out the inside of the tank using a mild
solvent.
12 Install the suction strainers using pipe thread
sealant on the threads.
13 Install the drain plug using pipe thread sealant
on the threads.
14 Install the hydraulic tank onto the machine.
15 Install the two suction hoses and the supply
hose for the auxiliary power unit.
16 Fill the tank with hydraulic oil until the level is
within the top 2 inches / 5 cm of the sight
gauge. Do not overfill.
17 Clean up any oil that may have spilled.

18 Open the hydraulic tank shutoff valves (if
equipped).
Note: Always use pipe thread sealant when
installing the drain plug and strainers.
19 Operate all machine functions through a full
cycle and check for leaks.
Note: Genie specifications require additional
equipment and special installation instructions for
the approved optional fluids. Consult the Genie
Industries Service Department before use.

Component damage hazard.
Be sure to open the two hydraulic
tank shutoff valves and prime the
pump after installing the hydraulic
tank. Refer to Repair Procedure
7-2, How to Prime the Pump .
