How to Install the Flex Plate
1 Install the flex plate onto the engine flywheel
with the raised spline towards the pump. Apply
®
Loctite
removable thread sealant to the
mounting screws.
Note: Torque the flex plate mounting bolts in two
stages.
Continental model: Torque the flex plate
mounting bolts in sequence to
20.8 ft-lbs / 28 Nm.
Deutz model: Torque the flex plate mounting
bolts in sequence to 28 ft-lbs / 38 Nm.
Perkins model:
Torque the flex plate mounting bolts in
sequence to 46.7 ft-lbs / 63.3 Nm.
2 Install the pump coupler onto the pump shaft
with the set screw toward the pump. Leave the
appropriate gap between coupler and pump
end plate for your engine.

3 Apply Loctite
removable thread sealant to the
pump coupler set screw. Torque the set screw
to 61 ft-lbs / 83 Nm.
4 Install the pump onto the pump mounting plate.

Apply Loctite
pump retaining fasteners. Torque the pump
retaining fasteners to 57 ft-lbs / 77 Nm.
5 Install the pump coupler onto the pump shaft
with the set screw toward the pump. Leave the
appropriate gap between coupler and pump
end plate for your engine.
6 Install the pump and pump mounting plate
assembly onto the engine. Apply Loctite
removable thread sealant to the mounting
screws.
Perkins model:
Torque the pump mounting plate fasteners in
sequence to 28 ft-lbs / 38 Nm.
Deutz model:
Torque the pump mounting plate fasteners in
sequence to 46.7 ft-lbs / 63.3 Nm.
Continental model:
Torque the pump mounting plate fasteners in
sequence to 23 ft-lbs / 31.2 Nm.
