7.2.1 Removing a Blank Panel

Blank panels are installed on the board slots before delivery to protect the components in
the shelf. This procedure describes how to remove a blank panel.
A shelf can be pre-installed with blank panels with or without extractors. The following
describes how to remove a blank panel with extractors.
Prerequisite
l
An ESD wrist strap (or anti-static gloves) and a cross head screwdriver are ready.
l
The position of the blank panel to be removed is known.
Steps
1. Wear the Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) wrist strap (or anti-static gloves), and then
connect the grounding terminal of the strap into the ESD jack on the shelf. For how to
