(1) AIR CLEANE

Pu II the air cleaner element set spring out and re­
move the
element.
Discard the element in accordance with the main ­
tenance
schedule.
Also, replace the element any time it is excessively
dirty or damaged.
I
nstall a new element and secure it with the set
spring.
I
nstall the air cleaner cover, connect the regulator/
rectifier couplers and install the left frame
side
cover
.
CRANKCASE BREATHER
Remove the plug from the drain tube to empty any
deposits.
I nstall the drain plug
.
NOTE:
I
Service more frequently when riding in rain
or at full throttle, or if the deposit level can
be seen in the transparent section of the drain
tube.

Disconnect the spark plug caps.
Clean any dirt from around the spark plug bases.
Remove the spark plug.
Visually inspect the spark plug.
Discard the spark plug if the insulator is cracked or
chipped.
Measure the spark plug gap with a wlre-tvpe feeler
gauge.
SPARK PLUG GAP: 0.8-0.9 mm (0.031-0.035 in)
Adjust by bending the side electrode carefully.
With the plug washer attached, thread each spark
plug in by hand to prevent crossthreading. Continue
tightening by hand until the spark plug bottoms.
Then, tighten the spark plugs another 1/2 turn with

washer.
Connect the spark plug caps
