3. SHIFT MECHANISM

The shift mechanism has been changed from a plunger shift type to a shift slider type.
With the current plunger shift type, the shift cam is rotated and the plunger shift is actuated
according to the shape of the cam to select the dog clutch. Compared with this, on the shift
slider type, the shift slider changes the rotating movement of the shift cam to direct line
movement to select the dog clutch.
By employing the shift slider type, the distance of movement of the shift cam becomes smaller
than with the plunger shift, and, in addition, the shift slider moves in the same direction as the
direction of movement of the shift plunger to select the clutch.
This provides swift actuation of the dog clutch and makes it possible to operate the shift
smoothly and accurately.
