ADJUSTING THE VALVE CLEARANCE

ADJUSTING THE VALVE CLEARANCE
The following procedure applies to all of the
valves.
NOTE:
S Valve clearance adjustment should be
made on a cold engine, at room tempera-
ture.
S When the valve clearance is to be mea-
sured or adjusted, the piston must be at top
dead center (TDC) on the compression
stroke.
1. Remove:
S front cowling
S seat
S fuel tank
(Refer to "FRONT COWLING SEAT, SIDE
COVER AND FUEL TANK" in chapter 3)
2. Drain the coolant
(Refer to "COOLANT REPLACEMENT" in
chapter 3)
3. Remove:
S radiator
(Refer to "RADIATOR" in chapter 5)
4. Remove:
S spark plug cap
S spark plug
S magneto cover
5. Measure:
S valve clearance
Out of specification ! Adjust.
Valve clearance (cold)
Intake valve
0.11 X 0.20 mm
Exhaust valve
0.21 X 0.30 mm
