Servicing the shock absorber
Caution

The shock absorber is filled with high density nitrogen. Adhere to the description provided.

Removing the spring
Finishing work
–
Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. (
Condition
The shock absorber has been removed.
–
Remove the spring. (
–
Disassemble the damper. (
–
Disassemble the piston rod. (
–
Disassemble the seal ring retainer. (
–
Check the damper. (
–
Disassemble the rebound adjuster. (
–
Remove the heim joint. (
–
Install the heim joint. (
–
Assemble the rebound adjuster. (
–
Assemble the seal ring retainer. (
–
Assemble the piston rod. (
–
Assemble the damper. (
–
Install the spring. (

Condition
The shock absorber has been demounted.
–
Clamp the shock absorber in a bench vise using soft jaws.
–
Measure and note down the spring length in a preloaded state.
–
Loosen screw
–
Turn the adjusting ring until the spring is no longer under tension.

–
Remove the spring.
