Explanation
The organisation develops broadcast standards for digital
television, using MPEG II compression. ATSC: American
standards for transmission and reception of digital television
signals. Although American, the standards have been adopted in
many countries worldwide.
Different types of cable television signals. STD: standard, HRC:
harmonically related carrier, IRC: incremental coherent carrier.
Closed Captioning 1 – 4. Different types of closed captioning
channels. Allows the user to select a language for closed
captioning in analogue mode.
This interactive feature allows the user to access and scroll
through complete programme listings covering now and next
programmes on the television screen.
Broadcaster, company or corporation that supplies audio or
video programmes via terrestial antennas.
The US and Canadian rating systems are parental control systems
that allow the user to limit access to certain programmes.
Different types of closed captioning service modes for digital
channels. Allows the user to select a language for closed
captioning in digital mode.
Different types of text channels. Allows the user to select a text
channel language in analogue mode.
Viewer control chip. Allows user to set a password to control
access to programmes based on rating (based on the motion
picture rating system).
