eye:
a. Call a doctor or eye specialist im m ediately and
obtain treatm ent as soon as possible.
b. DO N O T RUB T H E EYE. Splash the affected area
with quantities of cold water to gradually get the
tem perature above the freezing point.
REFRIG ERANT — 12
PRESSURE — TEM PER A TU R E
RELA TIO NSHIP
The table below indicates the pressure of Refri
gerant — 12 at various tem peratures. For in
stance, a drum of Refrigerant at a tem perature
of 8 0 ' F (2 6 .8 'C) will have a pressure of 84.1 PSI
(5 7 9 .9 kPa). If it is heated to 125>F (51.6°C), the
pressure will increase to 1 6 7 .5 PSI (1 1 5 4 .9
kPa). It also can be used conversely to deter
mine the tem perature at which Refrigerant —
12 boils under various pressures. For example,
at a pressure of 30.1 PSI (2 0 7 .5 kPa), Refriger
ant — 12 boils at 32"F (OC).

c. The use of an antiseptic oil is helpful in providing a
protective film over the eyeball to reduce the
possibility of infection. Should liquid R efrigerant-12
come into contact with the skin, the injury should be
treated the same as skin which has been frostbitten
or frozen.
All R efrigerant-12 drums are shipped with a heavy
