IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
Proper service and repair is important to the safe, reliable operation o f all
m otor vehicles. The service procedures recomm ended and described in this
service manual are effective m ethods for performing service operations.
Som e o f these service operations require the use o f tools specially designed
for the purpose. The special tools should be used when and as recomm ended.
It is im portant to note that this manual contains various Cautions and
N otices which should be carefully read in order to m inim ize the risk o f
personal injury to service personnel or the possibility that improper service
m ethods will be follow ed which may damage the vehicle or render it unsafe.
It also is im portant to understand that these Cautions and N otices are not
exhaustive. The manufacturer could not possibly know , evaluate and advise
the service trade o f all conceivable ways in which service might be done
or o f the possible hazardous consequences o f each way. Consequently,
the manufacturer has not undertaken any such broad evaluation. Accord­
ingly, anyone who uses a service procedure or tool which is not recom m end­
ed must first satisfy him self thoroughly that neither his safety nor vehicle
safety will be jeopardized by the service m ethod he selects.
