A.
Whenever a power steering gear
requires adjustm ent, the gear
should be drained o f hydraulic
flu id .
To drain the flu id , position the assembly
w ith hydraulic line ports pointing downward
over a container and cycle the rack-piston-nut
from stop to stop three or fo u r times.
B. When a u n it has been disassembled for any
reason, the side cover must be firm ly seated
against its retaining ring before any adjustm ent
is attem pted.
To seat the side cover, tap on the end o f the
pitm an shaft w ith a soft hammer.
