3 C -3 8 FRONT SUSPENSION
TIGHTENING SEQUENCE
1. In s ta ll all fo u r nu ts to u n ifo rm engagem ent
on 'U ' B olts to re ta in and p o s itio n a n ch o r
plate in design p o s itio n (p e rp e n d ic u la r to
axis o f 'U ' B olts).
2. T o rq u e nuts in p o s itio n s 1 and 3 to
10-25 ft . lbs. (1 4-3 4 N -m ).
3. T o rq u e all n u ts to fu ll to rq u e in fo llo w in g
sequence: 2-4-1-3.

Installation
NOTICE: See N O T IC E on page one of this section
regarding the fasteners referred to in steps 5 and 6.
1. Install spring shackle bushings into spring and attach
shackle. Do not tighten bolt.
2. Position spring upper cushion on spring.
3. Insert front of spring into frame and install bolt. Do not
tighten.
4. Install shackle bushings into frame and attach rear
shackle. Do not tighten bolt.
5. Install lower spring pad and spring retainer plate.
Torque bolts to specifications, Fig. 3C-33K.
6. Torque front and rear spring eye and shackle bolts to
specifications.
7. Remove stands and lower vehicle to floor.
