This section explains the values that can be set in each of the Common Menu items and the setting method.

Common Menu Items

The values that can be set in the Common Menu are divided into and explained in Port
Setting, Print Utility and Maintenance Mode.
Explanation
To be set when using the parallel port:
• PDL Mode - Note (1), Look (1)
Sets the PDL mode.
The candidate values are as follows:
• Auto (Default)*
Automatic determination of which language is used to record the data received from
the host and execute appropriate printing output according to the data.
• PCL 6
Processes data received from the host device as PCL 6 language.
• PostScript 3*
Processes data received from the host device as PostScript language.
• PJL Switch - Look (2)
Sets the PJL commands sent from the host device to valid or invalid.
The candidate values are as follows:
• ON (Default)
Accepts PJL commands.
• OFF
Ignores PJL commands.
• Auto Eject Time
Sets the time to automatically print and output any remaining data in the printer when it
is in a continuous state of not receiving data.
The range of setting is between 5-1275 seconds with 5 seconds per unit. Default is 30
seconds.
• Adobe Protocol*
Sets the Adobe protocol which is the PostScript protocol connection for parallel/serial
interface.
The candidate values are as follows:
• Standard (Default)
Standard Protocol - This is set when the communication protocol is in ASCII format.
• Binary
Binary Communications Protocol - This is set when the communication protocol is in
binary format. Depending on data, the printer processing may be faster than Adobe
Standard Protocol.
• TBCP
Tagged Binary Communications Protocol - This is set when the communication
protocol is a mixture of ASCII and binary format and switched by a specific control
code.
