Single cutting unit lowers very slowly
or not at all

Steering Circuit Problems

Problem
Steering inoperative or sluggish
Hydraulic System (Rev. C)
Possible Cause
Lift arm or lift cylinder is binding.
Lift cylinder is damaged.
Flow control orifice in lift control manifold for the affected cutting
unit is plugged or damaged.
Check valve in lift control manifold (CV1, CV4, CV5 and CV23) is
stuck or damaged.
Possible Cause
Steering components (e.g. tie rods, steering cylinder ends) are
worn or binding.
Steering cylinder is binding.
Oil level in hydraulic reservoir is low (other hydraulic systems af-
fected as well).
Steering relief valve (R12) in steering control valve is stuck or dam-
aged.
Steering cylinder leaks internally.
Steering control valve is worn or damaged.
Gear pump section (P3) is worn or damaged (NOTE: A worn or
damaged gear pump section (P3) will also affect the traction
(charge) circuit).
