IBM GPFS FPO provides the following features:
Offers standard file system interfaces on UNIX and Microsoft Windows
operating systems.
Enables concurrent reads and writes from multiple nodes.
Delivers high-bandwidth data availability.
Supports failover and disaster recovery to minimize single points of failure.
Offers scalable information lifecycle management to enable flexible support of
different disk classes through policy-driven automation and tiered storage
management.
Includes multi-cluster support and use of multiple networks.

For organizations that want to run more applications on their cluster in a
multi-tenant environment, IBM Platform Symphony Advanced Edition can also be
deployed. Platform Symphony is a complementary technology to GPFS FPO that
provides the flexibility to run Hadoop MapReduce applications with various other
applications on the same shared computing environment. This helps customers
realize higher levels of performance and infrastructure usage while containing
infrastructure costs.
GPFS FPO provides the following features:
Locality awareness
Scheduling compute tasks to nodes where data already is
Map reduce cluster
