9. Contrast Methods
For color contrast, the polarizer is inserted so
that the inscription "λ" points toward the front.
Note:
Use the "A" prism for 5x and 10x N-Plan objec-
tives.

9.1.5 Dark Field (RL)

• Rotate the special darkfi eld objective ("BD")
into position.
• Rotate the "BD" refl ector into position.
• Adjust the contrast using the aperture dia-
phragm (54.1).
Note:
The darkfi eld method can only be selected with a
suitable darkfi eld objective.

9.1.6 Fluorescence

• Insert a suitable specimen and rotate an ap-
propriate objective into place.
• Focus the image initially in transmitted light if
appropriate.
• Switch on the incident light source at the ex-
ternal power unit.
• Select an appropriate fl uorescence fi lter cube.
• Switch magnifi cation changer, if present, to
factor 1x.
• Open the aperture diaphragm.
