SYMPTOM
Header Drive
Sickle drive not
engaging (continued)
Sickle drive engages
but lacks power.
Belt will not disengage.
Belt vibration.
Band split full length of
belt.
Sections of band
missing from belt.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
PROBLEM
Appropriate solenoid not
being energized by
activating switch.
Header drive belt
tension too low.
Header drive belt
tension too low.
Worn belt.
Tensioning cylinder
front pivot bolt too tight,
preventing idler bracket
from rotating away from
switch.
Rear lower belt support
pivot too tight,
preventing cylinder from
disengaging switch at
front.
Belt has shrunk due to
over-heating when
disengaged, or
excessive slipping when
engaged.
Burnt spot or band cut
in one place.
Misalignment of pulleys.
Misalignment of pulleys.
Idlers not square with
pulleys.

SOLUTION
Check electrical
connections; repair or
replace solenoid.
Check hydraulic
pressure at tensioning
cylinder. Should be
between 150 & 250 psi.
Check for plugged
orifice at cylinder.
If pressure is below 150:
1) Check charge
pressure
2) Repair/replace pump
See "Sickle drive not
engaging" above.
Replace belt.
Adjust locknuts to allow
free movement of
cylinder ram on bolt.
Adjust locknuts to allow
free movement of
support on pivot bolt.
Replace damaged or
worn belt. Adjust belt
guides and keepers.
Check hydraulic
pressure at tensioning
cylinder (see above).
Replace belt.
Replace belt and adjust
pulleys.
Replace belt and align
pulleys.
Align idlers.
