4.5 Push the choke knob to the OPEN position as the engine warms up
H igh altitude operation
A t high altitude, the standard carburetor air-fuel mixture will be excessively rich
P erformance will decrease, and fuel consumption will increase.
H igh altitude performance can be improved by installing a smaller diameter
m ain fuel jet in the carburetor.. If you operate the generator at altitudes higher
th an 5,000 feet (1,500m) above sea level, have your authorized dealer perform
th e jet replacement..
E ven with suitable carburetor jetting, engine horsepower will decrease
a pproximately 3.5% for each 1000 feet (350m) increase in altitude. The effect
of altitude on the horsepower will be greater than this if no carb
m odification is made.
■Operation of the generator at an altitude lower than the carburetor is jetted
for may result in reduced performance, overheating, and serious engine
damage caused by an excessively lean air/fuel mixture.
