Service and Maintenance
Locate the coolant surge tank and
follow the arrow from the top of
the tank, down the side to the
horizontal mark.
If the engine compartment is cool,
the level should be at the FROID/
FULL COLD mark.
If the coolant level is low, add a
50/50 mixture of water and DEX-
®
COOL
coolant to bring the level
to the proper mark.

CAUTION
Adding only plain water or a
liquid other than the recom-
mended coolant can be
dangerous. The engine could
overheat, but you would not
get the overheat warning. The
engine could catch on fire and
you or others could be burned.
NOTICE
If there is too much water in the
coolant mixture, the liquid
could freeze and crack the
engine and other vehicle parts.
CAUTION
Under some conditions the
ethylene glycol in engine cool-
ant is combustible. To avoid
being burned, do not spill cool-
ant on the exhaust system or on
hot engine parts. If you have
any doubt, have this operation
performed by a qualified tech-
nician.
Reinstall the cap.
NOTICE
The surge tank cap is a pres-
sure-type cap and must be
tightly installed to prevent cool-
ant loss and possible engine
damage from overheating. Be
sure the cap is hand tightened
and fully seated.
