Starting and Operating Instructions
• going less than about 55 km/h
(35 mph), push your accelera-
tor pedal about halfway down.
• going more than about
55 km/h (35 mph), push the
accelerator all the way down.
When slippery road conditions
exist, downshifting the
transmission may cause skidding.
If your vehicle is a CTS-V model in
D (Drive), the first forward gear
automatic shift after starting the
vehicle will be from first gear.
Later, the vehicle will always start
in second gear. If M (Manual
Mode) is selected, the vehicle will
start in first gear for increased
performance.

Use this position to manually select
the gear range that best suits your
current driving conditions.

Driver-Controlled Shift Mode
NOTICE
Spinning the tires too fast or
holding the vehicle in one
place on a hill using only the
accelerator pedal may damage
the transmission.
If the vehicle gets stuck do not
spin the wheels too fast.
When stopped during an uphill
climb, hold the vehicle in place
using the brakes.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
DRIVER SHIFT CONTROL (IF
EQUIPPED)
NOTICE
While using the driver-
controlled shift mode, do not
operate the engine at high
rpms without upshifting.
Damage caused by improper
driving technique is not
covered by your vehicle
warranty.
