■ NEW VEHICLE
BREAK-IN PERIOD
NOTICE
Your vehicle doesn't need an
elaborate "break-in". But it will
perform better in the long run if
you follow these guidelines:
• Don't drive at a constant
speed - fast or slow - for the
first 800 km (500 miles).
Don't make full-throttle starts.
• Avoid full-throttle acceleration
for the first 800 km
(500 miles).
• Keep your speed at 113 km/h
(70 mph) or less for the first
800 km (500 miles).
• Avoid downshifting to brake
or slow your vehicle.
If these procedures are not
followed your engine, axle and
other parts could be damaged.
NOTICE
(Continued)
Avoid making hard stops for the
first 320 km (200 miles) or so.
Hard stops with new brake
linings can mean premature
wear. Follow this "break-in"
guideline every time you get
new brake linings.
• Don't tow a trailer during
break-in.
Following break-in, engine
speed and load can be
gradually increased.
Section 3
