Instrumentation and Controls
If you have recently replaced the
battery in your vehicle, or if the
battery has run down, the vehicle's
on-board diagnostic system may
determine that the vehicle is not
ready for inspection. It may take
several days of routine driving in
order for the diagnostic system to
have enough data for the
inspection.
If the vehicle has been driven for
several days (with a fully charged
battery) prior to the inspection,
but the vehicle still does not pass
for lack of on-board diagnostic
system readiness, see your dealer
or a qualified service center to
prepare the vehicle for inspection.

Shift Indicator Light
If your vehicle is a CTS model
equipped with a manual
transmission, this light will show
you when to shift to the next high-
er gear in order to maintain better
fuel economy.
If your vehicle is a CTS-V model,
the tracer lights on the tachometer
will flash to show you when to shift
to the next higher gear.
