Parking Brake

Your vehicle is equipped with
either a manual or an electric
parking brake.
• If your vehicle is equipped with
a manual parking brake, there
is a parking brake pedal located
to the left of the driver's left
foot. For more information, see
"Manual Parking Brake" later in
the section.
• If your vehicle is equipped with
an electric parking brake, there
is a switch near the gear shift
lever in the center console. For
more information, see "Electric
Parking Brake" later in this
section.
Manual Parking Brake (if
equipped)
If your vehicle is a CTS model, the
parking brake pedal is located to
the left of the driver's left foot.
To set the parking brake, hold the
regular brake pedal down with
your right foot and then push
down the parking brake pedal
with your left foot.
If the ignition is on, the Brake
System Warning light should turn
on.
See "Brake System Warning Light"
in Section 1.
Section 3
To release the brake, hold the
regular brake pedal down with
your right foot and pull the
parking brake handle located on
the instrument panel near the
driver's door.
If you begin to drive while the
parking brake is not yet released,
the Brake System Warning Light
will stay on and a chime will sound
to alert you.
