Parking the vehicle:
Apply hand brake firmly,
close win dows,
switch off engine, remove key,
engage steering c olum n lock,
lock vehicle

Advice when parkin g:
z Always ap ply hand brak e firmly and as
firmly a s p ossible on slopes.
z Push k ey into ignition sw itc h before
rem oving (vehicles with autom atic
transm ission 3: depress foot brake and
shift into P before removing key). Turn
steering wheel until lock is felt to eng age
(anti-theft protection).
z If the vehicle is parked on a level surfa ce
or a hill, select 1st gear before switching
ignition off (vehicles with automatic
transm ission 3: move selector lev er to P).
Also turn front wheels aw ay from kerb if
parked on an uphill slope.
If the vehicle is parked on a downhill
slop e, select reverse gear before
switching ignition off (vehicles with
automatic tra nsmission 3: move selector
lever to P). Also turn front wheels
towards kerb.
z Sw itch off exterior lam ps, otherwise the
hea dlamp wa rning device will sound
when the driver's door is opened.
z C ooling fa ns may run on after the engine
has been switched off.
z Do not park on easily ignitable surfaces
as hot ex ha ust system temperatures
could cause the surface to ignite.
