Engine oil
Information on engine oils - see page 216.
Eng ine oi l level and consum ption
It is normal for every engine to consume
som e oil, and it is som etimes necessary to
check and top up the engine oil lev el
between oil chang es.

Warning
Do not a llow the engine oil lev el to drop
below the minimum level.
For this rea son, the engine oil level should
be check ed every 500 k m (300 miles) or
before sta rting a long trip.
The illustrations show chec king and
replenishing the eng ine oil in the Z 24, Z 32
petrol engines and the Z 20 diesel engines
respectively.
To check the lev el, remove dipstick from
the dipstick tub e, wipe it clean and re-insert
it as fa r as it will go. After pulling the
dipstick out again, check the oil level,
ensuring it is between the lower and up per
(or M IN a nd MAX) marks.
Self-help, vehicle care
Engine oil level check and top ping up
The engine oil level must be c hecked with
the vehicle horizontal and with the eng ine
(which must be at operating tempera ture)
switched off. Wait a few minutes before
checking the level to allow the normal oil
acc um ulation in the engine to d ra in back
into the oil pa n.
