Controller Board

Removal
To prevent electrostatic damage to electronic components, always wear a
properly grounded static wrist strap when you handle circuit boards and
integrated circuits (ICs).
1. Make a configuration printout of all saved configurations. (Refer to the User's
Manual .)
2. Turn off the printer.
3. Unplug the printer AC power plug from its electrical outlet.
4. Open the lower front cover (page 4–6).
5. Remove the screws and washers (4 each) from the host interface panel and
remove the panel (see Figure 4–70 on page 4–96).
6. Loosen the screws (2) securing the controller board retaining brackets (2), then
remove the screws and brackets (not shown in figure).
7. Grasp the edge of the controller board and pull it slightly out of the card cage to
gain access to the ribbon cables connected to the edge-mounted connectors on
the controller board.
8. Mark or tag the ribbon cables connected to the controller board so that you will
be able to reconnect them to the new controller board later.
9. Disconnect the ribbon cables from the controller board and slide the controller
board out of the card cage.
