Installing the Diskettes (If Applicable)

Some versions of the printer use flash memory to store emulation code and fonts. If
your printer uses flash memory, the emulation code and fonts will have been stored in
the flash memory at the factory. In this case, skip to the next section, "Verifying
Printer Operation."
Other versions of the printer contain two diskette drives, as shown in the following
figure. In these printers, drive A holds the emulation boot diskette (the "operating
system" diskette) and drive B holds the font diskette.
If your printer uses diskette drives, install the diskettes in the drives by performing the
following steps:
1. Make sure the printer power is off.
2. Make sure the diskettes are not write-protected. On each diskette, the tab must
be covering the hole.
Do not bend or touch exposed areas of the diskette. Keep the diskette away
from magnetic fields. Do not store in especially cold (50 F) or hot (120 F)
areas.
3. Insert the emulation boot diskette into drive A.
4. Insert the font diskette into drive B.
5. Continue with the next section, "Verifying Printer Operation."
