Table 34 Problems During
Library Operation

Quantum Scalar 50 User's Guide

Problem
The robot drops a
cartridge.
Table 34
describes the corrective action for problems which occur during
5
library operation.
Problem
The host computer
cannot
communicate with
the library.
Common Problems and Solutions
Corrective Action
• Open the doors.
• Retrieve the cartridge, orient it properly, and
place the cartridge in an empty storage slot.
(Do not try to place the cartridge in the hand.)
• Perform an inventory (see
on page 82).
• If the operator manually places a cartridge in
an empty slot, he must then run an inventory
so the library records the position of the
manually placed cartridge.
Corrective Action
This may be a SCSI bus time-out or a premature
disconnect problem.
Check cable connections, cable length, SCSI
addresses, and termination.
Restart the host and the library ensuring that
the library is "on-line" before the host is
restarted.
If the host and library still are not
communicating, contact an authorized
Quantum field service engineer see
on page xx).
