Toavoid unsupervisedengineoperation, never leavethe machine
unattendedwith the engine running.Turnthe engine off after useand
remove key.
Stopping The Engine
Afteryouhavefinishedsnow-throwing, r unengineforafew minutesbefore
stoppingto helpdryoffany moisture onthe engine.

Movethrottle control t o STOP @
position.

Remove t he key.Removing t he keywill reduce the possibility of
unauthorized startingof theenginewhileequipmentisnot in use.Keep the
keyinasafeplace. T heenginecannotstartwithoutthe key.
3.
Wipeall snowandmoisture from theareaaroundthe engineaswell asthe
areainandaroundthe wheeldrivecontrol a ndaugercontrol.Also,engage
andrelease bothcontrolsseveral times.
ToEngageDrive
1.
With the throttle control i n the Fast ( rabbit)_
position,movespeed
selectorleverinto oneof thesixforward(F)positions or two reverse (R)
positions. S elect a speed appropriate forthe snowconditions andapace
you'recomfortable with.
NOTE: Whenselectinga DriveSpeed,usethe slowerspeeds
untilyouare comfortable and familiarwith the operationof the
snowthrower.
2.
Squeeze t he drivecontrolagainst t he handleandthe snow
throwerwill move.Release i t anddrivemotionwill stop.
NOTE: NEVER reposition the speed selector l ever(change speeds or directionof
travel)without first releasing the drivecontrol a ndbringingthe snowthrowerto a
complete stop.Doingsowill resultinpremature wearto the snowthrower'sdrive
system.
ReplacingShearpins
Theaugers aresecured to thespiralshaftwith shearpinsandbow-tiecotterpins.
Ifthe augershouldstrikea foreignobjector icejam, the snowthrowerisdesigned
sothatthe pinsmayshear.Ifthe augers will not turn, check to seeif the pinshave
sheared.SeeFigure 17.
NOTE: Twoextrashear p insaresupplied in the manual b ag.
NEVER replace the augershearpinswith anything otherthan Sears SKU#
88389/0EM Part No.738-0415S replacement s hearpins. A nydamageto the
augergearboxor other components a saresult of failing to do sowill NOT be
covered byyoursnowthrower's warranty.
Alwaysturn off the snowthrower's engineand remove the key priorto
replacing shearpins.
