Movechoke to the CHOKE
I,"1
position(coldengine start). Ifengine is
warm, placechoke in RUN position.

Pushprimerthree times, making sureto covervent hole inprimer bulbwhen
pushing.Ifengineiswarrn,pushprirneronlyonce. A lways covervent hole
whenpushing.Cool w eathermayrequire primingto berepeated.
5.
Push starterbuttontostart engine.Once the enginestarts,immediately
release starterbutton.Electric starterisequipped with thermaloverload
protection;system will temporarilyshutdownto allowstarterto coolif
electricstarterbecomes o verloaded.
6.
Asthe enginewarms, s lowlyrotatethe choke controlto RUN position.Ifthe
enginefalters,restartengineandrunwith choke at half-choke positionfor a
shortperiodof time,andthenslowlyrotatethechokeinto RUN position.
7.
Afterengineisrunning,disconnect p owercordfrom electricstarter. W hen
disconnecting, alwaysunplugthe endat the wall outletbeforeunplugging
the opposite endfrom the engine.
Recoil S tarter
Donotpull the starter handle whilethe engineis running.

Movethrottle control t o FAST ( rabbit)_Ill
position.

Movechoketo the CHOKE
position(coldenginestart).If engineis
warm,place chokein RUN position.
3.
Push primerthreetimes,makingsureto covervent holewhenpushing.
If engineiswarm,pushprimeronly once. A lwayscoverventholewhen
pushing. C ool w eathermayrequireprimingto berepeated.
4.
Pullgentlyonthe starterhandleuntil it beginsto resist, t hen pullquickly
andforcefullyto overcome thecompression. Donot release the handle and
allowit to snapback.Return ropeSLOWLY to original position.Ifrequired,
repeat t hisstep.
5.
Asthe enginewarms, s lowlyrotatethe choke controlto RUN position.Ifthe
enginefalters,restartengineandrunwith choke at half-choke positionfor a
shortperiodoftime,andthenslowlyrotatethechokeinto RUN position.
Toavoid unsupervisedengine operation, neverleavethe machine
unattended with the enginerunning.Turn the engineoffafteruseand
remove safetykey.
StoppingEngine
Afteryouhavefinishedsnowthrowing,runenginefora fewminutesbefore
stoppingto helpdry OFF anymoisture onthe engine.

Movethrottle control t o OFF position.

Remove t he safetykey.Removing t he safetykeywill reduce the possibility of
unauthorized startingof the enginewhileequipmentis not inuse.Keep the
safetykeyinasafeplace. T heenginecannotstartwithoutthe safetykey.
3.
Wipeanymoisture awayfrom the controls on the engine.

With the throttle control i nthe Fast ( rabbit)_ II]l position,rnove shift lever
intooneof the sixforward(F)positionsor two reverse (R)positions. S elect a
speed appropriate forthe snowconditions anda paceyou'recomfortable
with.
NOTE: W hen selectingadriveSpeed, usethe slowerspeeds until youare
comfortable andfamiliarwith the operation of the snowthrower.
2.
Squeeze t he drivecontrol a gainst t he handle andthe snowthrowerwill
move. R elease i t anddrivemotionwill stop.
NOTE: NEVER r eposition the shiftlever(change speeds or directionof travel)
withoutfirst releasing the drivecontrol a ndbringingthe snowthrowerto a
completestop.Doingsowill resultin premature wearto the snowthrower'sdrive
system.
ToEngageAuger
Toengage the augerandstartthrowingsnow, s queeze the augercontrol
againstthe left handle.Release t o stopthe auger.
Replacing Shear Pins
Each augerbladeissecured to the spiralshaftwith ashearpinandbow-tieclip.If
an augerbladestrikesaforeignobjector icejam, the pinwill shear o ff to prevent
damage to the blade.Ifan augerbladedoesnot turn, check to seeif its pinhas
sheared off. SeeFigure 14.
NEVER replace theauger shear p ins with anything otherthan Sears Model#
88389or OEMPartNo.738-04124A replacementshearpins.Anydamageto
the auger gearboxor other componentsasa result of failing to do sowill
NOT becoveredbyyour snowthrower's warranty.
Always turnOFF the snowthrower's engine and remove the safetykey
prior to replacingshearpins.
