Two-Way Chute-Pitch Control
TM
Thetwo-waychute-pitchcontrol i s located on the [eft sideofthe handle paneland
isusedto controlthe distance of snowdischarge f rom the chute.
Tochange the upperchuteangleto control t he distance thatsnowisthrown,
pivotthe [everforwardor backward.
Movethe [everforwardto pivotthe upperchutedownandreduce the
distance snowis thrown.
Move thelever r earward t opivot t heupper c hute upward a ndincrease the
distance snow isthrown.
NOTE: Toincrease ordecrease thetension o nthetwo-way c hute control,
tighten orloosen t hewingknob onthechute assembly.

Chute Clean-Out Tool
Thechuteclean-outtoolisconveniently f astened tothe rearof the augerhousing
with a mountingclip.Should snowandicebecomelodgedinthe chuteassembly
duringoperation, p roceed asfollowsto safely cleanthe chuteassembly a ndchute
opening:
Neveruseyour hands to clearacloggedchute assembly. S hutoff engine
and remainbehind handles untilall movingpartshavestoppedbefore
unclogging.
1.
Release b oththe AugerControl a ndthe DriveControl.
2.
Stopthe enginebyremoving the ignitionkey.
3.
Remove t heclean-outtool fromthe clip whichsecures it to the rearof the
augerhousing.
4.
Use the shovel-shaped endofthe clean-outtool todislodge andscoop any
snowandicewhichhasformedinandnearthe chuteassembly.
5.
Refasten t he clean-out t ool to the mountingclip onthe rearof theauger
housing, r einsert t he ignitionkeyandstartthe snowthrower'sengine.
6.
Whilestandinginthe operator's position(behindthesnowthrower),engage
the augercontrolfora fewseconds t o clearanyremaining snowandicefrom
the chuteassembly.
Before Starting Engine
Chute Directional Control
Thechutedirectional c ontrolislocatedonthe left side of the snowthrower.
Tochange the directioninwhichsnowisthrown,crankclockwise to
discharge t o the left andcounterclockwise to discharge t o the right.
Wheel Steering Controls
Theleft andrightwheelsteeringcontrols arelocated onthe underside ofthe
handles. S queeze t he right control t o turn right; squeeze t he left control t o turn left.
NOTE: O perate the snowthrowerinopenareas until youarefamiliarwith these
controls.
Headlight
Theheadlight i s located insideofthe handlepanel.
Drift cutters
Thedrift cuttersaredesigned for useindeepsnow.Theiruseisoptional f or normal
snowconditions. M aneuver the snowthrowersothatthe cutterspenetrate a high
standingsnowdrift to assist s nowfallinginto the augers forthrowing.
Read,understand,andfollow all instructions a nd warnings on the machine
and inthis manualbeforeoperating.
Oil
Theunit wasshipped with oil inthe engine.Check o il levelbefore eachoperation
to ensureadequate oil inthe engine.Forfurther instructions, r eferto the Service &
Maintenance s ectionof thismanual.
NOTE: Besureto check the engineona levelsurface with theengine
stopped.
1.
Remove t heoil filler cap/dipstick andwipethe dipstick clean.
2.
Insertthe cap/dipstick into theoil filler neck,andtightenthe capturning
clockwise until capisseated.
NOTE: Onsomeengines, a threadedscrewcapwill be present i nstead of
the quarterturn lockingcap.Inthe instance of athreadedoil cap/dipstick,
DO NOT screw the cap/dipstkkinto check. C heck theoil byrestingthe cap/
dipstickonthe threads, b ut notscrewingit in.
3.
Remove t heoil filler cap/dipstick. I fthe levelislow,slowlyaddoil (5W-30,
with a minimumclassification of SF/SG) untiloil levelregisters betweenhigh
(H)andlow (L).
NOTE: Donot overfill.Overfillingwithoil mayresultinenginesmoking,hard
startingor sparkplugfouling.
4.
Replace a ndtightencap/dipstick firmly before startingengine.
