Option 1: Managing a Server Remotely Using pcAnywhere

If you will be managing your server from a Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 95, 98
or 2000 PC client, install pcAnywhere. pcAnywhere allows terminal emulation
and, for Windows NT and 2000 servers, graphics console redirection.
NOTE Remember that the software license authorizes the installation
of pcAnywhere on one remote client and one HP NetServer.
Additional licenses should be purchased from Symantec if you
want to install pcAnywhere on additional systems.
pcAnywhere Remote Client Requirements
For dependable terminal emulation and remote console redirection, the remote
client set up must include:
An ANSI color terminal that supports 25-line mode and IBM PC character
set
A 486-based (or faster) PC
Microsoft's Windows 95, 98, 2000 or Windows NT 4.0
At least 16 MB of available disk space.
NOTE
These instructions describe only how to use pcAnywhere with
Integrated RA. pcAnywhere supports many other additional
features that may be useful to you. For details about all of
pcAnywhere's features, refer to the pcAnywhere Online User
Guide (see the Documentation section of Chapter 2 for details).
Installing pcAnywhere at the Remote Client
pcAnywhere must be already installed and configured as a host before it will
accept a call from your remote client. This should have been done when you
installed pcAnywhere (see Chapter 4). Once installed and properly configured,
pcAnywhere runs as a startup service on your server and is therefore always ready
for a call from a remote client.
To install pcAnywhere at a remote client:
1. Insert the HP NetServer Navigator into the CD-ROM drive and choose
Run from the Start menu in Windows.
