ELECTRIC STARTER

STARTER MOTOR

REMOVAL
With the ignition switch turned to "OFF", remove the
negative cable at the battery before servicing the starter
motor.
Remove the rubber cap.
Remove the nut and starter motor cable from the starter
motor.
Remove the starter motor mounting bolts and ground
cable.
•Always turn the ignition switch OFF before
servicing the starter motor. The motor could
suddenly start, causing serious injury.
DISASSEMBLY
Remove the following.
- O-ring
- Starter motor case bolts / spring washers
- Front cover
- Seal ring
- Lock washer
- Washer
- Cir-clip
- Rear cover ass'y
- 2 pcs washer
- Amature
INSPECTION
Check the bushing in the rear cover for wear or
damage.
Check the oil seal and bushing in the front cover for
wear or damage.
