Changing initial setup [7 Digital Audio Output]

Perform steps 1 to 3 of the procedure in "Basic operation for changing the initial
setup".

Select the item to be set.

1 Select an item with the joystick (%, fi).
2 Press the ENTER key.

Select the desired option.

1 Select an item with the joystick (%, fi).
2 Press the ENTER key.
The setup completes and the initial setup screen appears
again.
To return to the previous menu screen
Press the RETURN key.
To exit initial setup
Select "0 Exit" in the initial setup screen.

Digital Audio Output
1 LPCM(DVD) Off

Each press of the joystick (%, fi) switches the items as
follows.
1 1 LPCM (DVD)
: When playing a DVD with linear PCM recording, whether
the playback signal is to be converted into a 48 kHz/16-bit
signal and output at the digital audio output (optical/
coaxial) or not can be selected.
2 2 Dolby Digital
: When playing a DVD with Dolby Digital (AC-3) recording,
the format of the signal output from the digital audio
output (optical/coaxial) can be selected (from bitstream
and PCM).
3 3 MPEG
: When playing a DVD with MPEG recording, the format of
the signal output from the digital audio output (optical/
coaxial) can be selected (from bitstream and PCM).
4 0 Exit
: Exits the current screen.
Setting details
When [1 LPCM (DVD)] is selected:
1 Off (Factory setup)
Only the linear PCM audio digital signal with 48 kHz/16-bit
recording is output.
No digital signal is output during playback of a DVD with 48 kHz/
20-bit or 24-bit or 96 kHz linear PCM recording.
2 PCM
When a DVD with 48 kHz/20-bit or 24-bit or 96 kHz linear PCM
recording is played, the signal is converted into a 48 kHz/16-bit
signal and output at the digital outputs.
÷ The digital output of the PCM audio becomes a 48 kHz/16-bit or lower
signal because of the consideration for the copyright.
When [2 Dolby Digital] is selected:
1 Bitstream (Factory setup)
When a DVD with Dolby Digital (AC-3) recording is played, the
Dolby Digital (AC-3) bitstream (2- to 6-channel) audio is output.
Select this option when a Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder is con-
nected to the player.
2 PCM
When a DVD with Dolby Digital (AC-3) recording is played, the
signal is converted into a 48 kHz/16-bit signal and output at the
digital outputs.
When [3 MPEG] is selected:
1 PCM
The PCM (2-channel) signal is output.
2 Bitstream (Factory setup)
The bitstream is output.
