Changing initial setup [9 Other Settings]

Perform steps 1 to 3 of the procedure in "Basic operation for changing the initial
setup".

1 Select an item with the joystick (%, fi).
2 Press the ENTER key.

To return to the previous menu screen
Press the RETURN key.
To exit initial setup
Select "0 Exit" in the initial setup screen.

Each press of the joystick (%, fi) switches the items as
follows.
1 1 Still Mode
: Reduces image blur which tends to be observed on still
images.
2 2 Audio During search
: Switches the audio during forward search at the 1st speed
on or off.
3 3 TV Mode (4:3)
: Sets the TV screen mode when wide-screen software is
played through a standard-screen TV.
4 4 D. Range Control
: Sets the range of the audio output when a disc is played.
5 0 Exit
: Exits the current screen.
Setting details
When [1 Still Mode] is selected
1 Automatic (Factory setup)
Usually select this option, with which frame still image or field
still image are switched automatically.
2 Field
Select this option when image blur is observed when this item
is set to "Automatic".
When [2 Audio During Search] is selected
1 On (Factory setup)
Select this option if you want to output audio during forward
search at the 1st speed.
÷ Select "Off" if noise during search disturbs you.
2 Off
Select this option if you want to mute audio during forward
search at the 1st speed.
When [3 TV Mode (4:3)] is selected
1 Pan & Scan (Factory setup)
Select this option if you need a panned & scanned screen (which
is cut on the left and right sides) when playing wide-screen
software. However, even when this option is selected, software
without pan & scan specification is played in a letterbox screen.
2 Letterbox
Select this option if you need a letterbox screen (which has black
stripes on the top and bottom) when playing wide-screen soft-
ware.
When [4 D. Range Control] is selected
1 Off
Returns to the standard setup.
2 On (Factory setup)
This option reproduces a DVD with Dolby Digital recording in a
powerful sound even when the volume is low.
÷ This effect may not be available depending on the combination of
speakers.
