Changing the initial setup

The initial setup of the player, which has been made at the factory, can be changed to the desired setup.
[1 Disc Languages]
This sets the language to be used when playing a disc. (If a disc
does not contain the recording the selected language, it is played
in the priority language set for each disc.)
[2 Ratings]
This can restrict playback of adult-oriented DVD discs that you do
not want to be seen by children.
However, even when a DVD disc is marked "Adult-oriented" or so
on the label, its viewing cannot be restricted unless the restriction
level is recorded in the disc itself.
[3 Menu Language]
This sets the initial setup of language as well as the language used
in on-screen messages such as "PLAY".
[4 On-Screen Messages]
This sets whether the on-screen messages such as "PLAY" are to
be displayed on the TV screen or not.
These operations may not be available depending on DVD discs.

Basic operation for changing the initial setup

Select the item to be set.

[5 FL Display]
This sets the brightness of the main unit display.
[6 TV Aspect]
This sets the screen size (4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio) according to the
connected TV.
[7 Digital Audio Output]
This sets the type of audio output from the digital audio output
jack.
[8 Speaker Setting]
This sets the type of the speaker system used in surround play-
back.
[9 Other Settings]
This sets special settings such as the audio dynamic range com-
pression.
[0 Exit]
This exits the initial setup screen.
