Detect Conflicts Page
On the Detect Conflicts Page, you will check the selected package against target packages to determine if conflicts
would occur if all of these packages were installed on the same system.
Task:
To perform conflict detection:
1.
In the ConflictSolver Process Assistant, click the Detect Conflicts icon in the navigation bar. The Detect
Conflicts Page opens.
2.
In the Group tree, select the target packages that you would like to include in the conflict detection process.
3.
Click Detect. Results appear in the Conflict tab of the Output window.
Target Packages
In conflict detection, target packages are the individual packages or groups of packages that you want to compare
the source package(s) against. The source package is the package you are checking for conflicts.
Typically target packages are a group of applications and operating systems that are installed on workstations at
your organization. You would perform conflict detection against these target packages to determine if any conflicts
would occur if you installed the source package(s) on the same machine.
You select the target packages that you want to use in conflict detection on the Target Information Panel of the
Conflict Wizard.
Configuring Conflict Detection
You can specify which ACEs you want to be selected by default on the Conflict Options Panel of the Conflict
Wizard.
Task:
To select the default ACEs:
1.
Select Options from the ConflictSolver Tools menu. The Options dialog box opens.
2.
Click the Conflicts tab.
3.
Select the default conflicts you want to check for from the Predefined and Custom ACE Rules area. Conflict
rules (ACEs) associated with unselected boxes will not be performed by default during conflict identification.
However, you can override these in the Conflict Options Panel of the Conflict Wizard.
4.
Click OK.
