Extended Attributes Page

Extended attributes are optional properties for packages that you can view and edit. Because you can manually
create the description file, you have the flexibility to include information about each package that may be specific to
your organization—such as the users or business groups that receive the package.
The attributes listed on the Extended Attributes match those defined in the
is currently selected on the Extended Attributes tab of the Options dialog box.
On the Extended Attributes page, you can edit any of the listed attributes for the selected package by clicking on
the attribute name.
Task:
To enter or edit a package's extended attributes:
1.
If a package is not currently selected, go to the Select a Package Page and select a package.
2.
Click on the Extended Attributes button in the navigation bar. The Extended Attributes Page opens,
listing all of the attributes defined in the Extended Attributes Description file, and listing any values that have
previously been entered.
3.
To edit an attribute, click the attribute link. A dialog box opens and prompts you to enter text, make a selection
from a list, or upload a file (depending upon how the attribute was defined in the Extended Attribute
Description File).
4.
Perform the desired action and click OK. When you return to the Extended Attributes Page, the changes
that you made are displayed.

Validation Page

On the Validation Page, you compare the package against selected Microsoft Internal Consistency Evaluators
(ICEs), custom actions written by Microsoft which can be executed to determine if an installation package is built
according to Windows Installer standards.
Task:
To validate a package:
1.
After selecting a package on the Select a Package Page of the ConflictSolver Process Assistant, the
Validation Page opens. You can also open the Validation Page by clicking the Validation icon in the
navigation bar.
2.
Click Validate to begin the validation process. Results are displayed in the Validation Results list and on the
Validate tab of the Output window.
If you do not want ConflictSolver to check for a particular ICE error during subsequent validations of a
package, you can choose to suppress it by selecting the ICE error and selecting Suppress from the context
menu.
