y Stay alert and attentive.

Do not perform installation or
maintenance work when tired
or under the influence of medication,
drugs or alcohol.
y Upon commencing work on security
system enclosures and components,

Electrical safety
y Exercise care when working inside
security system enclosures:
y Metallic tools, fingers, body parts or
jewellery coming into contact with
mains wiring and terminals may cause
electric shock.
y Metallic tools or jewellery coming
into contact with battery terminals
may cause sparks, personal injury or
create a fire risk.
y Exercise care when drilling into,
or inserting fasteners into walls. Pipes
and wiring may be present
in the wall and contact with tools or
fasteners may provide risk of electric
shock, damage to premises services,
or create a fire risk. Locate wiring,
pipes and services first to avoid
accidents.
