You should ignore this message. The AHA-1520/1522 does not use a DMA
channel.
After the kernel has been rebuilt, the system prompts you to reboot with the new
kernel and invoke mkdev a second time to complete the installation of the new
device. You must repeat this entire process for each device you add.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you cannot successfully reboot the system after you install the ASW-1250
software or if your screen looks strange the first time you boot after installation,
there is probably a port address range conflict. Check the documentation for all
the adapter cards you have installed on your system. If any of them use the same
port address as the AHA-1520/1522, you need to resolve the conflict.
If
necessary, remove the AHA-1520/1522 from the system, reboot the original
kernel (/unix.pre1250), and reconfigure the AHA-1520/1522. Then reinstall the
ASW-1250 software.
Error Messages
While you are initializing your system, you may see error messages that let you
know that there are problems with the new setup.
The following messages indicate that the AHA-1520/1522 board has not been
successfully installed:
spad_init: Adapter 0 configuration failure, base port
Ox340
spad_init: Adapter initialization failure, base port
Ox340
Both of these messages mean that the ASW-1250 software and the AHA-1520/
1522 host adapter are unable to communicate. SCO UNIX does not recognize
any devices that you have attached to the board. If you receive either of these
messages, check to see that the AHA-1520/1522 is inserted properly into the
computer. Make sure that the software and board configurations match.
