Installing the BIOS and Firmware
EPROMs
Proceed with the following steps to install your new
BIOS and firmware EPROMs.
Turn off power to the system and all external de-
vices. Serious damage to your system unit and
options can occur if you leave the power on.
Adaptec recommends that you unplug your system
from the AC outlet.
1.
Remove the cover of your EISA personal computer
to expose the expansion slot containing your
AHA-1740A/1742A adapter.
The AHA-1740A or AHA-1742A, like all electronic
equipment, is static sensitive. Discharge the static
electricity from your body by touching an un-
painted metal surface of your computer frame or
rear panel before handling the board.
2.
Remove all cables from the host adapter.
