Chapter Six
Software for NetWare 386
The system displays the same messages it did when you loaded the software
the first time.
9. The system redisplays the NetWare prompt. The ASW-1240 software is
now loaded.
This completes the first phase of software installation.
The second phase of software installation for duplexed drives is the same as for
mirrored drives. Follow the procedure in "Setting Up Mirrored Disk Drives,"
earlier in this chapter to complete the installation.
BOOTING NETW ARE FROM A SCSI DISK
You can set up your system so that it boots NetWare and automatically loads the
ASW-1240 software. Before you can do this, the hardware must be properly
configured. Make sure your system is configured as follows:
an AHA-1520I1522 host adapter is jumpered to port address 340h and
with its BIOS enabled
a SCSI disk drive with SCSI ID 0
The procedure to set up NetWare to boot automatically has two phases. The first
phase modifies the DOS boot process to automatically load the NetWare operat-
ing system every time the system starts up. The second phase modifies the
NetWare INSTALL module to set up NetWare to load files (including the
ASW-1240 software) and automatically mount volumes.
To Modify the DOS Boot Process
1. Boot your system to DOS.
2. Create a 6 megabyte partition on your SCSI disk using the DOS FDISK
command.
3. Format the disk using the DOS FORMAT command.
4. Insert the working copy of the NetWare System 1 diskette into the floppy
drive.
