Chapter Three
Changing Jumper Settings
The AHA-1520/1522 BIOS
If
you are using two AHA-1520/1522 host adapters, only one can use its BIOS.
You must disable the BIOS of the other.
If
you use the AHA-1520/1522 in
combination with a different host adapter (such as the Adaptec AHA-1540/1542),
you also need to disable the AHA-1520/1522 BIOS. In both cases, you need to use
ASPI software to access the SCSI devices connected to the AHA-1520/ 1522.
You must disable the host adapter BIOS
if
you change the host adapter from its
primary port address range. See "The
I/0
Port Address Range" earlier in this
chapter for more information.
The Floppy Drive Controller
If
you are using two AHA-1522 host adapters, only one can use its floppy disk
controller. You must disable the floppy controller of the other.
HOW TO CHANGE SEITINGS WITH JUMPERS
The following sections tell you how to change the AHA-1520I1522 jumpers to
make changes to the host adapter's settings. You will learn which jumper settings
you need to change to avoid the conflicts discussed previously.
Appendix B, '1umper Block Reference," lists all the jumper settings you can
change.
