Chapter Seven Software for SCO UNIX
This chapter tells you how to install Adaptec's ASW-1250 software for SCO UNIX
and the AHA-1520/1522 host adapter.
The chapter covers these major topics:
• ASW-1250 features and restrictions
• how to determine your software configuration
• installing the software, which comprises two phases:
• using the SCO UNIX utility Custom to install and configure the
ASW-1250 software
• using the SCO UNIX mkdev command to enable device drivers for
the SCSI devices attached to the AHA-1520/1522
• understanding and resolving errors
ASW-1250 FEATURES AND RESTRICTIONS
The ASW-1250 software and the AHA-1520/1522 host adapter allow you to use
SCSI devices, including hard disks and tape drives with SCO UNIX and your IBM
PC/ AT or compatible computer.
The ASW-1250 software supports SCO UNIX versions 3.2v0, ODT vl.O, and 3.2v2.
You should be aware of the following restrictions of SCO UNIX and the ASW-
1250 software:
• SCO UNIX limits your system to a maximum of four disk drives.
• The software supports a single AHA-1520/1522 host adapter.
• You cannot boot from a SCSI disk connected to the AHA-1520/1522 host
adapter and controlled by the ASW-1250 software. The disk you boot
from has to be connected to a controller or host adapter for which SCO
provides embedded support.
