This chapter documents the hard disk configuration. To use the other configura-
tions, conimlt the NetWare documentation.
Before Using NETGEN with a Hard Disk
Make copies of all NetWare and ASW-1240 diskettes before you begin, and work
with the copies.
Using the working copies of the NetWare diskettes, copy all the NetWare files
onto your hard disk. Make a separate directory for each diskette and give it the
same name. Copy the contents of each diskette into the appropriate directory.
After you have copied the NetWare files onto your hard disk, copy the appropri-
ate ASW-1240 files into a new directory on the hard disk. Create a new directory
called \DSK_DRV _.209. Note the letter of the logical drive that contains this
directory. Copy the files in the \NET286.215 directory on the working copy of the
ASW-1240 diskette into this directory.
BASIC NETWARE INSTALLATION
The procedures in this section describe a typical installation of NetWare and the
ASW-1240 software. These procedures also form the basis for installing multiple
disk drive configurations. If you are planning to use a multiple disk drive
configuration, first familiarize yourself with the basic installation. ·
The procedures that follow describe the installation of a file server operating
system on a system that does not run NetWare. If your system is already running
NetWare and you are adding the AHA-1520/1522 host adapter and the ASW-
1240 software, you can use a simpler procedure. Begin by typing NETGEN rather
than NETGEN -N. Thereafter the installation is basically the same except that
you only enter information about the host adapter, its software, and the new disk
drives. The rest of the configuration information can be carried over from the
existing operating system.
If at any time during the NetWare installation you need to verify you have
correctly completed a previous step, press the Esc key. The Esc key moves back
to the previous menu.
