The primary function of the SECTEL 1500 is to communicate in asecure
mode. You can place and receive clear calls and then change to secure com¬
m u n i c a t i o n s .
F u l l - D u p l e x C a l l s
Use the following procedure to place acall in secure voice mode.
Insert the CIK. Turn it one-quarter turn clockwise.
N O T E
While the terminal functions in secure mode, the CIK must remain engaged. With
the CIK engaged, the terminal and the CIK become classified to the level of your
key. Consult the organization's security procedures for instructions on how to han¬
dle the equipment.

Be sure the VOICE annunciator is on. If not, press IVQICE/DAT^.

Be sure the MUTE annunciator is off. If not, press Imute |.

Be sure the HD annunciator is off. If not, press [half duplex .

secure voice to all STU III equipment (2.4 and VOICE annunciators
on), secure simultaneous voice and data with another SECTEL 1500
(4.8, VOICE, and DATA annunciators on), or secure voice to another
SECTEL 1500 (4.8, 9.6 and VOICE annunciators on).
If the remote terminal is capable of 2.4 operation only, the
SECTEL 1500 will automatically drop to 2.4 operation.
N O T E
The speakerphone can be used in the secure 9.6 or 4.8 voice mode (4.8 or 9.6,
V O I C E . S E C U R E a n d S P K R a n n u n c i a t o r s o n ) .
