This chapter describes the procedures for placing and receiving clear calls,
converting clear calls to secure mode, receiving auto secure calls, and using the
SECTEL 1500 speakerphone. It also provides procedures for secure dialing
and reading or clearing compromised information message (CIM) prompts.
P L A C I N G C L E A R C A L L S
The SECTEL 1500 provides the usual features available with current tele¬
phone equipment. Place aclear voice call in the same manner as you would
with an ordinary telephone.
Use the following procedure to place aclear voice call.

Take the handset off-hook and listen for adial tone.
N O T E
If the speakerphone option is enabled, acall can be initiated by pressins fSPKR |.
(2) Dial the telephone number using either number keys, the redial key or
amemory dial key. Include any special access numbers ordinarily
dialed with current telephone equipment.
(2) If adialing error occurs, press Ireset), and dial the number again.
N O T E
Should power fail, the SECTEL 1500 will operate as aplain old telephone for clear
calls only, in either tone or pulse mode. Most of the additional features, however,
will not be functional. To answer acall, press IclearI before picking up the hand¬
set. To place acall, pick up hand-set, press |clear| and then dial.
