I n s t a l l a t i o n
The SECTEL 1500 has been carefully inspected and packaged to ensure
optimum performance. As with any piece of electronic equipment, proper
installation and knowledge of operating procedures is essential before the
equipment can be used.
The available software and hardware configuration options described in this
chapter, are factory set to the most commonly used states and should not
require changing.
After performing the steps outlined in this chapter, the SECTEL 1500 will
operate as anormal telephone, but requires acryptographic fill (see Chapter
5, Security Considerations and Procedures) to be able to transmit or receive
s e c u r e v o i c e o r d a t a .
Take afew moments to read through the following material for instructions on
proper installation and an introduction to the features of the SECTEL 1500.
N O T E
Prior to installation of the SECTEL 1500 terminal for normal operation, make sure
the zeroize button on the rear of the terminal is pressed in (not zeroized). In this
position, the white portion of the button will not show.
U N P A C K I N G
The materials used to pack the SECTEL 1500 will withstand normal ship¬
ping stresses. To prevent damage to the terminal in subsequent moves or
shipping, save all packing materials for re-use.
